BCC, CC and To: Impact on Email Processing in Basecone

Ensuring emails are always processed correctly in Basecone

Written by Team Basecone

Basecone links incoming emails to an administration based on the email address through which the email is received. When the Basecone address is included in the BCC field of an email, the system cannot always determine with sufficient certainty which administration the email belongs to. To prevent documents from being assigned to the wrong administration, the email will not be processed in such situations.

In some cases, emails containing the Basecone address in the BCC field may still be processed correctly. When determining the correct administration, the system looks not only at the receiving address but also at the recipients listed in the To and CC fields. If these recipients also appear in emails associated with other administrations, the certainty with which the system can assign an email to a specific administration decreases.

To ensure that emails are consistently processed correctly in Basecone, we recommend adding the Basecone address directly to the To field. The use of CC is discouraged, and the use of BCC is strongly discouraged.

As an alternative, you can set up an automatic forwarding rule. For example, you can create a rule that automatically forwards emails containing a specific subject line, such as “regarding our services for”, to the relevant Basecone address. Because the email is then forwarded directly to Basecone, it can be processed correctly.
